A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear, and who doesn't want a mouthful of pearly whites? And why spend hundreds of dollars to achieve that look, when you can purchase products at an inexpensive price to use in the comfort of your own home? Flight attendants do it! We're always greeting people with a smile, so I researched and created a post with the best DIY teeth whitening hacks that won't break the bank - from fruits (yes fruits), to whitening strips and LED lights and tips to avoid discoloration! Take a look below and try some out yourself, and don't forget to smile. It looks good on you too!
Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide
•Combine about two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide with one tablespoon of baking soda. Stir it until it's a past like consistency. Dip your toothbrush and brush your teeth. Leave the paste on your teeth about a minute or two before rinsing.
Fruits (Bananas, Strawberries and Lemons)
•Have the banana for breakfast, but don't throw away the peel just yet! Believe it. A ripe banana peel actually can aid in whitening your teeth. The the high amounts of potassium, magnesium, and manganese bananas help to remove stains and brighten your smile. Take the inside of a banana peel and rub your teeth for two minutes. Make sure you get every tooth!
• Those Strawberries you had for your snack can also be used to whiten your teeth. Mash up some strawberries, add a pinch of sea salt and 1/2 tsp of baking soda and mix into a paste. Apply the paste to you teeth using your toothbrush. Wait five minutes and rinse. The vitamin C in strawberries also helps to remove plaque and bacteria that causes your teeth to be discolored.
•Lemon acts as a bleach when Whitening teeth. The vitamin C and acidic properties of lemons help to remove the yellow tint in discolored teeth. You can take a lemon peel much like the banana peel and rub it all over your teeth for a few minutes or you can make a paste using baking soda. Mix equal parts lemon juice and baking soda into a paste. Apply the paste to your teeth. Let it stand for one minute. Brush your teeth with the paste for another minute, rinse, then brush your teeth with regular toothpaste to rid of the access lemon juice/baking soda.
•LED lights combined with teeth whitening gel is also another way to whiten your smile. The LED light activates the gel to help accelerate the removal of stains and maximize results - a brighter smile. •Companies such as Crest make whitening strips you can buy at your local drugstore that advertise removing 10 years of set-in stains. Wow! Who wouldn't smile about that?
•Put a table spoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swish it around your teeth for twenty minutes or add a small amount to your toothbrush and brush it on your teeth. The luceric acid in coconut oil helps with the removal of plaque and bacteria which can cause teeth to look yellow. Make sure you spit out the oil in the toilet or trash as it can clog the sink. Rinse mouth out with warm water.
Apple Cider Vinegar
•You can also use apple cider vinegar by diluting a little bit with water and taking your finger and rubbing it on the fronts of your teeth for a couple minutes, then rinse out your mouth.
